Vondom Peacock Collection

Turning a childhood memory into an icon of contemporary design is a rare feat, reserved for the greatest designers. This is precisely what the Vondom Peacock collection offers, a bold series that goes beyond utility to become a true ornamental sculpture. More than a simple decorative object, this piece embodies the meeting of wild nature and industrial mastery, bringing a touch of architectural poetry to your indoor and outdoor spaces.

The emotional heritage of the Peacock design

Behind this majestic silhouette lies the personal story of Eero Aarnio, an emblematic figure of modern design and a pioneer in the use of plastic. The inspiration for this planter comes from the Finnish designer's childhood memories near Helsinki Zoo. Located on an island, the zoo was home to peacocks imported from India which, unable to fly long distances, roamed completely free.

For the young Eero, these birds were a fascinating mix of beauty and intimidation, particularly when they fanned out their tails and became bigger than the child himself. This planter does not merely reproduce the shape of the animal; it captures the essence of that fascination. By revisiting this figure from his past, Aarnio offers a piece rich in symbolism, confirming his status as a living legend whose works, such as the Ball and Pastil chairs, are held by some of the world's most prestigious museums, including MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The sculptural engineering of the Peacock planter

Beyond its founding story, the Peacock collection stands out for flawless technical execution, true to the Spanish brand's standards of excellence. Made by rotational moulding, this polyethylene resin piece is exceptionally robust. This manufacturing method produces fluid organic forms without any visible seams, giving the object a monolithic, clean aesthetic.

Designed to withstand the most extreme conditions, this sculptural planter is unaffected by UV rays, temperature changes and knocks. Its surface, available in various finishes, plays with light to highlight the curves of the neck and the volume of the bird's body. It is a centrepiece that structures the space, drawing the eye along its soft, confident lines and turning a corner of the garden or an entrance hall into a modern art gallery.

To extend this immersion in a world where design becomes playful and organic, pair this piece with the Rosinante rocking horse, which shares the same narrative signature, or with the dynamic forms of the Roulette collection, to create a coherent ensemble celebrating Eero Aarnio's imagination.
