Jean-Marie Massaud: designer and architect
Born on 8 September 1966 in Toulouse into a modest family, Jean-Marie Massaud first followed a scientific and technical path at an aeronautical engineering school, before discovering design at around 19. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle "Les Ateliers" in Paris in 1990, then founded Studio Massaud in 2000 with Daniel Pouzet.
A search for synthesis and lightness
From the outset, Jean-Marie Massaud has built a body of work that ranges from architecture to objects, from one-off projects to mass production, from the macro to the micro scale. His pursuit of lightness and synthesis addresses individual and collective fulfilment, economic and industrial efficiency, and environmental issues alike. He has worked with brands such as Axor, Cassina, Christofle and Poliform, and discovered Vondom in 2016: won over by a catalogue he describes as an explosion of joyful, playful products, all made in Spain, he immediately sensed an enthusiastic commitment and a strong brand identity.
Jean-Marie Massaud's collections for Vondom
Jean-Marie Massaud's first collaboration with Vondom is the Vondom Milos collection, a furniture family with soft curves that recalls the organic evolution of rocks shaped by wind and waves, in the spirit of a Mediterranean landscape. Winner of a Red Dot Design Award in 2024, the collection reflects his constant pursuit of elegance and lightness. He also designed the Vondom Pasadena collection, a furniture family that reinterprets the archetypes of the outdoor lounge with generous forms and a level of comfort close to that of indoor furniture.
