Ora Ïto: designer
Born Ito Morabito in 1977, a French designer of Italian origin, Ora Ïto began his career in the early 2000s by passing himself off as a Japanese designer under this pseudonym, creating uncommissioned virtual objects for major luxury brands, including a futuristic bag for Louis Vuitton that went viral before it had even been officially commissioned. In 2002 he received the Oscar de l'Emballage packaging award for his aluminium Heineken bottle, followed by a Red Dot Design Award in 2004 for his first lamp, One Line, drawn in a single stroke.
A quest for visible simplicity in complex objects
Ora Ïto associates plastic with lightness, freedom of form and endless possibilities. Fascinated since childhood by Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which he cites as the source of all his inspiration, he pursues a genuine quest for perfection in every project. He even coined a word to describe his approach: "simplexity", the art of giving visible simplicity to an object with complex functions.
Ora Ïto's collection for Vondom
For Vondom, Ora Ïto designed the UFO collection, born of a "genetic mutation experiment" between the iconic languages of the pagoda and the flying saucer, for a monolithic, sculptural line inspired by the artist Marta Pan.
