Light Up Christmas Tree - Chrismy
Teresa Sapey: architect and designer
Born on 13 June 1962 in Cuneo, Italy, Teresa Sapey studied architecture at the Politecnico di Torino, then completed her training in Paris with a BFA from Parsons School of Design and a master's degree at La Villette. She notably took part in the Hotel Puerta América project in Madrid, where 18 renowned architects, including Jean Nouvel, Norman Foster and Zaha Hadid, each designed a floor. In 1990 she settled in Madrid and founded her own architecture studio. Her work has received several international awards, including Breakthrough Designer of the Year from Wallpaper magazine in 2007.
A playful, sensory approach to design
Teresa Sapey describes her approach as that of a friend who also happens to be a designer, driven by humour, colour and harmony with the user and the space. Her favourite colour remains white, along with orange. Asked which Vondom piece by another designer she would put in her own home, her answer sums up her enthusiasm: she loves the whole catalogue so much that she would rather turn the question around. Her small personal pleasures: taking off her shoes, savouring jamón ibérico and a glass of champagne.
Teresa Sapey's collections for Vondom
For Vondom, Teresa Sapey designed the Vondom Adan collection and the Vondom Skull collection, a provocatively inspired collection born of her wanderings through antique shops. She also designed the Chrismy outdoor LED Christmas tree, a modern reinterpretation of Christmas decoration.
