JM Ferrero

In the landscape of contemporary design furniture, some creations manage to blur the boundaries between architecture, fashion and the everyday object. That is exactly what the Estudi{H}ac studio has achieved with the superb Vondom Marquis collection, produced by the Spanish house Vondom. Taking its first inspiration from the noble art of diamond cutting, this range offers a bold reinterpretation of traditional volumes, with pieces of rare sophistication that can turn a terrace or an interior into an art exhibition space.

The faceted look of the Marquis planters

The central concept of this series is a fascinating polygonal geometry. Like rigid origami or precisely cut gemstones, the planters in this range feature a textured surface made up of many triangles. This design, which immediately recalls the facets created when a diamond is cut, gives the objects exceptional visual dynamism.

José Manuel Ferrero, the designer behind the project, applies his vision as an industrial "tailor". He transposes the elegance of pleated fabrics and the rigour of London's Savile Row tailoring into an extremely tough material: rotomoulded polyethylene. This technical process produces complex shapes, round or oval, that fully withstand weather, UV rays and thermal shock, while keeping the delicate appearance of folded paper.

A luminous atmosphere by Marquis

Beyond planters, the range extends to exceptional lighting that makes masterful use of surface relief. The table lamp and the pendant light in the series do more than give light; they sculpt the space. As light passes through the resin body of these pieces, it interacts with the many geometric facets to cast a captivating play of light and shadow.

This visual effect creates a living texture reminiscent of backlit pleated fabrics, bringing unexpected warmth and depth to your evenings. Whether placed on a side table or suspended to mark the height of a space, each lamp becomes a source of wonder, combining industrial technique with undeniable formal poetry. This duality between outdoor toughness and visual refinement is what makes these pieces so appealing to demanding design lovers.

To extend this geometric rigour and accentuate the "diamond" effect in your layout, you can combine these pieces with the Vondom Vases collection, also designed by JM Ferrero, which shares the same fascination with faceted, sculptural lines.
