In Harlem, New York, The Smile owes its name to its astonishing curved stainless steel façade, inspired by the textured surface of the moon. Seen from the south, it rises above the buildings of 125th Street and, seen from above, it draws a smile.
Designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group, the building houses a nursing school on the ground floor and 223 apartments, a third of them devoted to affordable housing.

An explosion of colour inspired by Harlem
The interior opens onto an entrance bursting with bright colours, echoing the artistic murals that adorn the buildings of East Harlem. Residents are greeted by an explosion of reds, blues, greens and yellows, drawn from the neighbourhood's Puerto Rican and Caribbean culture.

A rooftop for residents
The facilities reserved for residents include a spa, a sauna, a gym, a shared workspace and a lounge with a kitchen for events. On the upper deck there are also barbecue facilities and an outdoor dining area.

The Pillow collection on the roof
The rooftop has been furnished with sun loungers from the Pillow collection, designed by Stefano Giovannoni. Their bright colours stand out in the main outdoor space, alongside hot tubs and a pool, complemented by chaise longues and coffee tables from the same collection.

A roof to smile on, facing Manhattan
Vondom furniture makes this terrace the ideal place for social activities, meetings and relaxation, with striking views of Manhattan as a bonus. In this residential building, Pillow furniture turns the roof into a place to smile broadly.
