Gabriele and Oscar Buratti: an architecture studio

Gabriele Buratti (born 1962), an architect who taught interior design at the Design faculty of the Politecnico di Milano from 2003 to 2010, and his brother Oscar Buratti (born 1967), also an architect, together founded the studio Buratti+Battiston Architects. Their work covers residential, commercial and industrial projects as well as retail spaces for brands such as Automobili Lamborghini, La Perla and BMW, alongside product collaborations with B&B Italia, Poliform, Poltrona Frau and iGuzzini.

Plastic, a material with no original form

For the two brothers, what sets plastic apart from wood or stone is that it has no original form: a material with no pre-existing mass, which is not worked by cutting and joining like traditional materials. In all their architectural projects they give colour great importance, provided it is an integral part of the material rather than a mere surface finish. Above all they look for timeless elegance rather than shapes destined to date quickly, a standard that leads them to particularly admire Eero Aarnio's "Roulette" armchair in the Vondom catalogue.
