Javier Mariscal: artist and designer
Born Francisco Javier Errando Mariscal on 9 February 1950 in Valencia, Javier Mariscal moved to Barcelona in 1970 and became one of the most versatile Spanish creators of his generation, working across painting, sculpture, interior design, landscape design and illustration. He gained international recognition by creating Cobi, the official mascot of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. His collaboration with Vondom began in 2009.
A curious eye that draws everything it sees
Javier Mariscal describes himself as a curious person who loves to look, observe, learn and draw absolutely everything: light, the sea, friends, bars, streets, objects. He admits to a preference for certain colours without ever denying the beauty of the whole palette. A great fan of old Piaggio Vespas, his faithful travel companions for many years, he also has a passion for cinema and the graphic arts, right down to personal purchases such as a set of Korean brushes.
Collections designed by Javier Mariscal for Vondom
For Vondom, Javier Mariscal designed the Vondom Sabinas collection, with organic curves that reject any straight line or geometry, inspired by sand dunes and feminine forms. He also created Vondom Noma, born from a reflection on the way we sit outdoors, which combines the functions of a flower pot and a table in a new type of furniture.
