A sports club at the Bund Financial Center
In Shanghai, the Fosun group entrusted Zeng Zicheng with the design of a 3,000 square metre gym in the heart of the Bund Financial Center. From the first sketches, the designer wanted to translate into the space the rhythm and movement of the nearby Huangpu River.
The BFC Swimming Fitness Club is thus conceived as a place for sport as much as for design. Vondom furniture extends an ambitious architectural vision.
Design as an expression of strength
The project starts from a simple idea, power, expressed through form and colour. The rigour of Western minimalism sits alongside a sculptural tension that creates a space of strength and beauty.
The whole pursues a clear goal: to inspire the desire for a healthy lifestyle. The setting becomes an engine, an invitation to movement.
The undulating wall, a graphic signature
From the entrance, an undulating wall catches the eye. Thanks to three-dimensional work and carefully studied lighting, it evokes the lines of muscles at full effort.
The colour contrasts that animate it assert a resolutely urban modernity. The tone is set, that of a place where aesthetics serves performance.
Roulette and Adan, the art of the pause
Near the lift lobby, an irregular green wall soothes the atmosphere and marks the transition to the gym. This is where the Roulette armchair by Eero Aarnio and the Adan stool by Teresa Sapey are placed, designed for athletes' recovery.
These seats offer a resting point before or after exercise. They embody an active pause, in a graphic setting with strong personality.

Wing and Faz around the infinity pool
Between the third and fourth floors, a 180 degree infinity pool opens onto the river and the Shanghai skyline. A 25 metre glass wall erases the boundary between inside and outside.
Around the pool, the Faz armchair by Ramón Esteve converses with the table and bar stools from the Wing collection by A-Cero. The ensemble offers members quiet comfort, at the rhythm of the Huangpu.

Red, the energy of movement
To stimulate the senses and the enthusiasm of the athletes, red stands out as the signal colour. It instils immediate energy, echoing physical effort.
Conceived by designers trained in Western art and rooted in Chinese culture, the BFC Swimming Fitness Club illustrates a vision where design becomes the partner of an active life. Vondom furniture finds an expression here that is as robust as it is elegant.
