A beach hotel in the heart of the Mediterranean
On the island of Skiathos, in Greece, the Hotel Alkyon enjoys an ideal seafront location. A warm, family-run establishment open to all ages, it offers the perfect combination of relaxation and pleasure for a memorable Mediterranean holiday.
Recently renovated in its entirety, the hotel has made contemporary outdoor furniture one of the pillars of its repositioning. To do so, it drew on several Vondom collections by three major designers: Eugeni Quitllet, Karim Rashid and the Buratti duo.

Africa at the coffee bar, timeless modernity
Inside, the stools from the Africa collection dress the coffee bar and underline the modernity of this space. This design by Eugeni Quitllet is characterised by its play of straight and curved lines, giving rise to a timeless piece.
The choice of Africa for this transitional space is no accident: the collection immediately establishes the formal language that will then run through all the outdoor spaces. A coherence designed from the threshold.
The outdoor dining room facing the sea
Outside, the Africa armchair and chair are paired with the Mari-Sol table to create the hotel's outdoor dining room. A place where guests enjoy their breakfast in comfort, facing the Mediterranean Sea.
The Africa and Mari-Sol pairing, both by Quitllet, guarantees perfect visual unity. The furniture recedes in favour of the panorama, while providing the comfort that open-air dining service requires.

Voxel by Karim Rashid around the pool
In contrast, the hotel has a large outdoor terrace with a vast pool. Around the pool, the sun loungers from the Voxel collection are laid out. This design by Karim Rashid offers complete relaxation while creating a fresh, select atmosphere.
The sharper geometry of Voxel introduces a welcome break from the softness of Africa. This variation sustains visual interest from one space to another, without ever losing the Vondom signature common to the whole.

Kes and Faz, the panoramic restaurant on the top floor
On the top floor of this modern hotel, guests enjoy refined cuisine with splendid views of the city and the sea. This restaurant pairs the chair from the Kes collection, designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, with the table from the Faz collection designed by Ramón Esteve.
These two pieces, with their minimalist, modern design, convey an avant-garde sobriety without tipping into ostentation. A calmer register, suited to a fine dining space where the furniture must know how to be forgotten.

Contract furniture serving a repositioning
The whole of the Hotel Alkyon was recently renovated, and contemporary-design contract furniture is a decisive element of this repositioning. It is through it that the hotel claims its new status, more sophisticated and more current.
The project illustrates a logic typical of the contract market: an establishment that wants to move upmarket relies on the signatures of recognised designers to lend credibility to its transformation. Four collections, three designers, one common thread, the Vondom standard of quality.
