A Caribbean superstructure by Karim Rashid
On the Mexican coast, the Temptation Cancun Resort marks a true milestone in Caribbean hotel architecture. Rebuilt in its entirety at a cost of several million dollars, the resort has redrawn the Cancun skyline with a spectacular 430-room superstructure, full of generous curves and bold colours.
This architectural gesture was entrusted to Karim Rashid, a global name whose style is instantly recognisable. The project has received several industry distinctions, including recognition at the Construction and Engineering Awards 2016. Architectural coordination was provided by Ruben Chavez (Original Resorts), with interior art direction by Gina Rosete (Tropiqa Studio Mexico).

The concept of "sensual minimalism"
Rashid has named his approach "sensual minimalism": a clean formal vocabulary, inspired by the lines of the human body, which puts material and colour at the service of an immersive guest experience. At Temptation, this approach can be read in every piece of furniture, chosen or designed by the American-Egyptian designer himself.
The resort, reserved for an adult clientele, plays an openly exuberant register. But behind the visual effect, the project rests on a very rigorous logic: a single project lead for a perfectly controlled global signature.

Vertex at the Sea Flit restaurant
In the Sea Flit restaurant, Karim Rashid selected chairs and tables from the Vertex collection, which he designed for Vondom (Karim Rashid). The gesture is radical: a single furniture vocabulary for a single venue, perfectly curated.
Outside the restaurant, the project features Pal pots with integrated LED lighting, and Voxel armchairs. Three collections, three roles, one formal coherence that comes from Rashid's drawing board.

Bash Bar and the Wing signature by A-Cero
At the Bash bar, open 24 hours a day, Vondom installed the stools and tables from the Wing collection, designed by the studio A-Cero. The collection's organic lines naturally extend the formal vocabulary Rashid established for the rest of the resort.
This choice illustrates scenographic intelligence: varying designer signatures while maintaining a common grammar (curves, sensual line, bold colour). Wing makes its contribution without breaking the overall coherence.

Noma by Javier Mariscal, the playful accent
The staging also includes pieces from the Noma collection, designed by Javier Mariscal. Their sinuous lines add a playful accent to the whole, a recognisable signature of the Spanish designer, celebrated for his relaxed line.
Three major designers brought together, six collections deployed: Temptation Cancun illustrates the ability of an ambitious project to unite distinct styles in the service of a single idea. The secret lies in the coherence of the brief: curves, sensuality, colour.

Surf, the signature piece around the pools
Around the resort's two concept pools, it is the sun loungers from the Surf collection, designed by Karim Rashid, that take over. Their curved silhouette becomes the visual signature of this festive swimming area, enlivened by a DJ during the day.
The same piece is found in a completely different context: the Rose Spa, a wellness area where the Surf sun loungers serve for rest and treatments. One piece, two diametrically opposed uses. This is where the quality of a design is proven: its ability to cross contexts without losing its identity.

The art of curating, more than decorating
Temptation Cancun Resort goes beyond a simple order of outdoor furniture to reach the dimension of true curation. Across 37,000 m², seven restaurants, several bars, two pools, a spa and boutiques: every space has been conceived as a chapter of the same book.
Vondom supported Karim Rashid throughout the project, supplying six collections that form a veritable encyclopaedia of contemporary design. A reference for anyone wanting to understand how a single designer can, with the right industrial partners, create a complete universe.
