Yes. All the materials Vondom uses are designed for permanent outdoor exposure, including by the sea. Their characteristics do, however, vary from one material to another, and a few seasonal precautions noticeably extend the life of the pieces.
Rotomoulded polyethylene
One-piece structure, coloured throughout, with no paint to chip on the basic finishes. UV-resistant treatment, unaffected by rain, frost and salt spray. Its light weight and impact resistance make it the material of choice for high-traffic areas. It can stay outdoors all year round. For plant pots and planters, empty any standing water before a prolonged period of frost.
Glass fibre reinforced injection-moulded polypropylene
Produced by gas-assisted injection. This thermoplastic polymer withstands high temperatures, up to around 150 °C, without deforming or degrading. It allows slimmer sections and stackable seating while retaining excellent mechanical strength. Stable outdoors all year round, with no particular maintenance required.
Aluminium
A low-density metal, highly resistant to corrosion and impact, and 100% recyclable. Vondom uses two alloys, AISI12 (EN AC-44100) for casting and 6060 (AlMgSi) for profiles, both finished with oven-cured epoxy paint. This powder-coated finish ensures durability in marine environments. A colour touch-up kit is available to treat any impact locally and prevent the onset of oxidation.
HPL Solid Core tabletops
A composite of cellulose and compressed phenolic resins, developed for the contract and hospitality sector. Lightweight, unaffected by water, alcohol and organic solvents, and resistant to scratches and thermal shock. It is the most robust solution in the catalogue for table tops on restaurant terraces. No winter protection required.
Wood (ash, iroko, teak)
Natural species suited to outdoor use. Teak naturally turns grey over time under UV light, an aesthetic rather than structural change. A teak cleaner followed by a dedicated oil restores the original shade once or twice a year, depending on exposure.
Fabrics and cushions
Outdoor fabrics treated to be stain-resistant and water-repellent, and resistant to UV, cold and mould. They can handle occasional rain, but bringing them in or covering them out of season and in prolonged wet weather remains the best guarantee of longevity.
Light up modules
Rechargeable versions (LED battery) should be stored under cover out of season. Low-voltage mains-powered versions can stay in place, provided the protection rating stated on the product page is respected. Explore the whole range in our selection of light up furniture.
